What is your proudest PR achievement?
I’ve been lucky enough to work on some of the UK’s leading brands, delivering national coverage and award winning campaigns, but if I had to single out one individual achievement it would be actually keeping stuff out of the news rather than making headlines. Over the years I’ve managed a lot of corporate issues and crisis situations. On one occasion I managed all of the media relations, stakeholder engagement and social media communications surrounding the appearance of one of my FTSE listed clients on Watchdog. The success of this work was recognised with accolades from industry commentators and the media, and also resulted directly in a new business approach from one of the external organisations involved.
Favourite magazine or newspaper?
I’m a complete book addict so you’re more likely to find my nose buried in a novel than in newspapers or magazines. However, I love leafing through homes and interiors magazines, looking for decorating ideas to do up our old farmhouse, plus as a working mum, I’ve recently discovered the hidden joys of those free supermarket magazines – love the recipes and the ideas for things to do with the kids can be really creative.
What’s your hidden talent?
Rustling up a great meal from the odds and ends left in the fridge when it looks like ‘the cupboard is bare’. I also love to sing.
Where are we likely to find you after work?
With my family, happily outnumbered as the only female in a house of boys. Outdoors as much as possible (which suits my sporty boys down to the ground), experimenting in the kitchen (with a glass of something nice and chilled in my hand) or plotting the next DIY project.
If I didn’t work in PR I would…
…be cruising around the UK waterways on my narrowboat.
