Celebrating the Stars of Direct Selling

Last week one of our clients the Direct Selling Association (DSA), the trade body for direct selling companies in the UK, hosted its first awards to celebrate the stars of the industry. The brand new award scheme was created by the DSA as it wanted to showcase the best direct sellers in the industry and celebrate their success stories.

There were eight award categories in the Stars of the Direct Selling awards and all finalists and winners had amazing stories of how they started direct selling and how successful they are now. Some of the award categories included Direct Selling Partnership of the Year which was won by the Brinner family, daughter Victoria  28, mother Sally 53 and grandmother Brenda 82, three generations who are all direct sellers with Amway. Rose Bunce who is a direct seller for Cambridge Weight Plan won the highest award of the day – Direct Selling Star of the Year – for making a huge success of her direct selling business after she suffered a life changing assault while working as a police officer which forced her to give up her day job.

We helped to arrange the judging panel for the awards and the panelists included Saira Khan, from The Apprentice, Tricia Philips, the Daily Mirror’s award-winning small business editor and Kalpana Fitzpatrick, financial journalist and founder of MummyMoneyMatters.com. Saira Khan gave a very inspiring and thought provoking keynote speech about the successes that can come with being your own boss, which resonated with many of the direct sellers in the audience.

All of the finalists had very inspiring stories and we received some fantastic feedback on the day about the event from direct sellers, judges and member companies. We have worked with the DSA for four years to raise awareness of direct selling and to educate people about the benefits. One of the best things about direct selling is the people who work within the industry and it was wonderful to see some of them being celebrated at the awards.
