This year we are raising money for Katherine House Hospice, our chosen charity for 2018, and we’ve been busy fundraising.
July started with a team of four enthusiastic (but slightly tired) ‘CubanEighters’ embarking on a 10 mile walk around Banbury … at midnight! The event is run by Katherine House Hospice, and this is their 12th midnight walk. The event is expected to raise up to £65,000 and this could fund the Day Hospice for six months, which is incredible.
The theme was superheroes, so we were easily spotted around the route by our green capes and masks – in true CubanEight style. We were among some other great costumes, including WonderWoman and Superman, and some real superheroes even attended from the local fire station and hospital. We were certainly immersed in a fantastic atmosphere and spirit.
The route saw us take on a few hills, but we also found ourselves in a rural area of Banbury. It was an opportunity to get to know each other better, as well as meeting some fantastic fundraisers along the way. There were some brilliant costumes and a great atmosphere. We crossed the line just before 4am and celebrated with enjoying a bacon butty sat amongst the other hundreds of triumphant walkers.
One way to overcome a 10-mile walk is with a spot of yoga. Our resident yoga teacher and Account Director, Annabel invited us all to attend a session in our beautiful gardens. Along with some of our office neighbours, we practiced yoga which is proven to help improve mood and efficiency, and reduce stress so a great thing to do at work.
We have lots more planned throughout the year as we continue to raise money for a fantastic cause and we hope to bring the total to over £1000 before the end of 2018. For those who would still like to donate, it is not too late: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/cubaneight-ltd
