New market launch into UK and Europe
Circle is a social payment app allowing people to exchange money for free instantly using a phone number or email address. Based in the US, when looking to expand into Europe via the UK, it tasked CubanEight with positioning it as a fintech innovator and building credibility as a technology business. Circle set the bar high and wanted to meet specific financial and business media.
Corporate activity was central to supporting investor relations. Our strategy focused on explaining the function and potential of social payments and how it fitted into this new area of instant payments, targeting a corporate audience across a breadth of media. Briefings for Circle’s senior management were secured with specified top-tier business and financial media team under embargo ahead of launch. We maximised impact and positioned Circle as a disruptor in the UK fintech space.
22 media briefings were secured with 71 pieces of media coverage including The Times, The FT, City AM, The Guardian, The Independent, Reuters, Bloomberg and Tech Crunch. In total this achieved 863k views and 4.69k social shares.
Circle won Banking Technology Innovation of the Year Award, was shortlisted for National Technology Awards, and European MD has been shortlisted for Women in IT & First Women Awards. Consistent PR output ensured that Circle was positioned as spearheading the adoption of social payments in Europe.
